Robens Buzzard UL
In the dolomites and like here in the german alps I recently had the chance to put the new Robens Buzzard Ultralight tent to the proof and I have to say I really love it! It is by far the lightest tent I know with only 950 grams (33,5 oz / 2,09 lb) yet durable, sturdy aswell as wind- and waterproof to meet the high expectations of longer hiking outdoor adventures in mountain ranges like the Dolomites. One night it’s new Hydro Tex UL Flysheet withstanded a huge thunderstorm with quite heavy rains and strong winds and I must say I was heavily impressed by this incredible thin outer shell layer.
I love its streamlined setup with the popular single hoop design. Together with the Hydro Tex, the minimalistic inner tent and the carbon fibre poles it makes this incredible minimum weight possible. It packs up ultra small for a tent in it’s size and is pitched up easily within 5 minutes. Overall it is quite a perfect travel companion for my photographic hikes and I do not want to miss it anymore. If you consider buying a new ultralight hiking tent for the summer months I can highly recommend this awesome piece of gear by Robens Tents and could answer some more questions about it if they come up.
“An excellent combination of light weight, clever details and value for money – that’s the Buzzard UL from Robens! Weighing in at less than one kilogram, this tent is perfect for any and all trekking enthusiasts who are eager to save some weight and keep the pack size to a minimum. The interior of this two-man tent is comfortable for a trekking duo, but will also work for you solo adventurers out there and your equipment.
The outer tent is made of super-lightweight 10D nylon fabric, siliconised on both sides and boasts a hydrostatic head of 3000 mm, so you’ll have all the protection you need. Plus, the nylon mesh as the inner tent not only prevents condensation, but will also shield you from those uninvited winged beasts we all love to hate. The tunnel construction only requires one pole, which is also super light thanks to the combination of aluminium and carbon. This means that assembly can be completed in just a few minutes. The pole is located in an internal sleeve to make the Buzzard UL less susceptible to wind.
The adjustable tensioning loops and the retainer for the guy lines come in useful when assembling and disassembling, preventing them getting tangled. Inside, a gear rope can be used to hang up socks and other equipment for drying. Valuables and small items can be stored in the various mesh pockets. Last but not least, there is rainproof ventilation openings for a pleasant environment in the tent as well. The Robens Buzzard UL is a super-lightweight, compact tent for trekkers who like to go light but refuse to go without proper weather protection!”
